Cowboy loves to play dress up!
Getting ready for Santa's Mane Event, Dec. 2021
If you thought Cowboy’s back leg looks ‘wonky,' it’s not your imagination!
We rescued Cowboy and his mother (a beautiful all-white mare named Ophelia) from a Louisiana kill pen. They were destined to slaughter after being sent to auction by the family of their deceased owner - the family needed funds for his funeral.
With an unsightly leg, no one wanted to buy Cowboy, so he was destined for slaughter in Mexico. We stepped in and saved them both! Our vet examined Cowboy’s leg and said it was an old break, and that surgery wasn’t an option. He has no pain, and can run and play with his pals all the same.
Nowadays, Cowboy enjoys participating in therapy groups led by licensed therapists. In December, he dresses up as Santa's elf and takes photos with excited kiddos, many of which have never seen a real horse!
Cowboy, we love your perfect imperfections!
